The aged men
Poetry: Giannis Ritsos
Music: Thanos Mikroutsicos
Main vocals: Maria Dimitriadi
from the album Cantata for Makronissos
...
and they now sit here in Makronissos
at the opening of the tent facing the sea
like stone lions at the entrence of night
with the nails planted deep in the stone
they do not speak

they look far at the skylight of Athens
they look at the river Jordan
holding firmly a stone in their earthy hand
holding firmly, in their eyes, the bullets of the stars
holding firmly, in their heatleave, a loud silence
that silence before the thunder

next to their eyes they have a little tree of goodness
inbetween their eyebows, an eagle of strength
and a mule of anger in their heart
that cannot bear injustice

Fed up of them
Poetry: Wolf Biermann
Music: Thanos Mikroutsicos
Vocals: Maria Dimitriadi

Fed up of those fridgid wemen carressing me
those pseudo-friends that flatter me
those who demand braveness
and, themselves, always dirty their underpants
in that town split in two
I am fed up of them

Ballad of the Revolt
Lyrics: Fuenteovejuna by Lope de Vega
Music: Thanos Mikroutsicos
Vocals: Maria Dimitriadi

Music for the 70's performance of the National Theater of Northern Greece, Thessaloniki.

Large river orverflown the anger of the people
flows over the fields
who can stop it? who can stop it?
who, who can stop it?

Valley of Funteovejuna the hand that sowed you
now holds the thunder
who can stop it? who can stop it?
who, who can stop it?

Centuries kneed by the bitterness the soul of the people
now grows wings and flies
who can stop it? who can stop it?
who, who can stop it?
